The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
December 12, 2017

“I am the merciful Mother of all mankind.  Am I not your hope?”
Our Lady of Guadalupe to St. Juan Diego

Dear Friend of Our Lady of Guadalupe,

In contrast to the Culture of Death with its loss of life and hope, St. John Paul II called Our Lady of Guadalupe the Mother of Hope and the Mother and Evangelizer of America.

He went on to say, “Now is the time of the New Evangelization to lead the People of God in America to cross the threshold of the third millennium with renewed hope.” Our culture is in darkness, but we know that God’s grace and light pierce the darkness of sin to bring life and hope through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

As we celebrate the end of our 26th anniversary of Visitations of the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, we continue to see that Our Lady of Guadalupe brings us hope!

“May she end without exception the horrible evil of abortion”

at the commissioning of the original Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Over 20 years ago, I went on pilgrimage with the Missionary Image to many California churches and to abortion centers for Peaceful Prayer Presences. I was inspired by the prayer of the late Cardinal Posadas, “May she end without exception the horrible evil of abortion.”

During that pilgrimage, the late Bishop Donald Montrose of Stockton addressed all of his priests at the Chrism Mass on Holy Thursday. He said, “A few weeks ago the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was brought into our diocese in order that we might pray that the scourge of abortion would end in our country. Great numbers of our people visited the parishes where the Image was reverenced. Hundreds of people prayed and accompanied the Image to our two killing centers. I am asking that we undertake a Spiritual Campaign of prayer that God will remove this terrible scourge.”

Now, 20 years later, the scourge remains, but the Spiritual Campaign continues and we persevere in prayer and hope. We see the fruit of the domino-like falling of the abortion centers, just like the Aztec temples of human sacrifice fell through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Mission for Life to 144 Abortion Centers
Ends with Adoration, Benediction and Eucharistic Procession at and around
State Capitol Building

This year the Guardian Team of Teresa Marsano and Dora Lee Raras, supported by Bishop Richard Garcia of the diocese of Monterey, coordinated a pilgrimage on a Mission for Life to 144 abortion centers, almost every California abortion center, for Peaceful Prayer Presences. The pilgrimage began on March 2 and ended on April 30 in the State Capitol of Sacramento.

The Team actualized the plea of St John Paul II. He wrote, “A great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world…. Let us discover anew the humility and courage to pray and fast so that power from on high will break down the walls of lies and deceit; the walls which conceal from the sight of so many of our brothers and sisters the evil of practices and laws which are hostile to life. May this same power turn their hearts to resolutions and goals inspired by the civilization of life and love.” (Gospel of Life, Pope John Paul II, No. 100).)

Bishop Garcia called the pilgrimage, Our Lady’s Mission for Life. He said that it was  a unique vision to bring to fruition, through prayer, the closure of California abortion centers. He wrote that the Mission was, “A statewide schedule of Visitations by the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe” and that he hoped that all would “welcome and support this effort to bring Our Lady to every abortion clinic in California.”

Bishop Garcia concluded his letter, “I thank you in advance for your time and effort in the promotion of Our Lady’s Mission for Life and offer my sincere gratitude for all you do to promote and rebuild a Culture of Life.”

Bishop Jaime Soto recognized the magnitude of Our Lady’s Mission for Life and honored her “Crowning Visit” to the State Capitol. He celebrated Mass there at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament and immediately following led the recitation of Pope John Paul II’s Gospel for Life and celebrated Benediction on the steps of the State Capitol building. That was followed by a Eucharistic Procession around the Capitol in prayerful journey and public witness to “end without exception the horrible evil of abortion”, as Cardinal Posadas had prayed.

The faithful recited a bi-lingual Rosary for Life. They had come from all over the state from the various Visitations throughout California on Our Lady’s Mission for Life. They came from Chico, San Rafael, Santa Rosa, Fairfield, Madera, Ventura, Santa Paula, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo and Sacramento.

Four Abortion Centers Closed Shortly after Visitations to Them

During this Pilgrimage, the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe traveled over 5000 miles to 144 abortion centers, resulting in the closing of four of them. These centers included three Planned Parenthood facilities and were located in Sacramento, Vacaville, Pittsburgh and Richmond. All of them were closed shortly after Visitations of the Missionary Image with Peaceful Prayer Presences. Over 30 abortion centers have closed after Visitations of the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

One of the abortion centers that closed was Women’s Health Specialists located in the state Capitol of Sacramento. It closed after 42 years of fervent prayers of pro-lifers. This closing was announced from the Capitol steps with Bishop Soto. Teresa’s Team had just been to that center with the Missionary Image praying in the rain for its closure.

At one of the abortion centers, Teresa explained to a group of workers, “Our Lady of Guadalupe is a longtime opponent of abortion going back to her appearance in 1531. The women of that time did not want to sacrifice their own to the sun god and neither do these girls here at Planned Parenthood. She’s here and I’m here to make sure that this place closes with the rest of them.”

Later Teresa said, “Protests are for yelling and screaming, but Our Lady of Guadalupe wants a peaceful end through conversions of hearts. Four abortion clinics closed shortly after our Visitations to them and Peaceful Prayer Presences with the Missionary Image. Our Lady is working in California ... I get to giggle every time I get an update ... remembering her sweet whisper ... ‘If you take me, I will close them!’ ”

Teresa and Dora wrote to our Apostolate, “We are ever so grateful to the Guardians of the Missionary Images, Dan Lynch Apostolates, for recognizing Our Lady’s desire to come to California for this special Mission for Life and for making it possible for all of us to honor her special request.”

Am I Not Your Hope?

Our Lady of Guadalupe said to St. Juan Diego, “Am I not your hope?” Mary is the Mother of Hope. She is the Mother of Jesus Christ who is our hope and brings life as the conqueror of despair and death. Through her, we should have the confident expectation of divine blessings such as the closing of abortion centers, conversions, healings and the manifestations of heartbeats in the Image and Holy Glitter on it. That is hope!

The work that we do is making an impact in peoples’ lives. Your help has made this possible for so many people! You are an important member of our apostolate. Thank you for all the ways in which you support us.

We remember you and we want you to know that in the upcoming Christmas season, you and your loved ones will be in our daily prayers, novenas, weekly holy hours and monthly Masses. Your intentions are offered to Our Lady of Guadalupe and her Son everyday in our chapel. You are important to us and we want you to know how much we appreciate you, your prayers and your assistance.
